This is traditional "classics" style construction, using primarily mahogany grown materials. The keel, deadwood, stem, knees, and shaftlog are Douglas Fir and bolted together with 3/8 in.bronze rod and bolts. The hull is planked with 3/4 in. thick western red cedar and fastened with 1 1/4 #12 silicon bronze screws. The white oak for the 1" thick ribs and butt blocks is from
 
The engine beds, floor timbers, stringers, sheer clamps, and deck framing are all bronze through-bolted Douglas fir. All the structural elements behind the cedar ceiling and under the cockpit decks and lazarette are all preserved with traditional red lead paint before assembly.
The cockpit framing supports conduit for the steering cables, electrical wires, bilge pump hose, and fuel lines. This allows for easy additions and replacements. The wet exhaust system is fiberglass where it passes under the cockpit. The fiberglass muffler assembly is located in the lazarette.
The decks and cockpit floors are plywood coated on the back with Scomin epoxy resin, and screwed and bonded with Sikaflex to the framing. The seams are backed and have a double bias fiberglass tape before sheathing with 6 oz. cloth and Scomin epoxy. All outside corners are bias taped prior to sheathing. The stemhead is finished off "classics" style with a brass stem iron and teak toe rails and guards. The toe rails and guards are clad with brass half-oval. The planking at the transom is protected with 1/4" thick brass, as well.
All of the deck hardware and fittings are bronze, excepting the Bofor hatches.
 
The main cockpit deck is self-bailing, while the smaller forward cockpit is not. The square Bofor forward hatch allows access to the automatic bilge pump.
